Er, hello! I know I haven't posted in many, many months. Sorry about that. Anyway, I woke up this morning and wrote a little lantis fic. My gosh, a fic. I know.
My hands are up - this it very much inspired by a wonderful short story called 'In a Tub' by the brilliant Amy Hempel.
Anyway, here it is. It's very short. And it's untitled, so if anyone has an idea for a title let me know.
"The whole purpose of places like Starbucks is for people with no decision-making ability whatsoever to make six decisions just to buy one cup of coffee. Short, tall, light, dark, caf, decaf, low-fat, non-fat, etc. So people who don't know what the hell they're doing or who on earth they are can, for only $2.95, get not just a cup of coffee but an absolutely defining sense of self: Tall. Decaf. Cappuccino." ~Joe Fox, You've Got Mail.
I ADMIT IT! I am a Starbucks h0r. I'm not proud of it. *sips grande hazelnut latte* I see it as one of my main anti-capitalist/ anti-consumerism failings. Oh, and ALL OF THE SHOES.
For All Ah to be alive on a mid-September morn fording a stream barefoot, pants rolled up, holding boots, pack on, sunshine, ice in the shallows, northern rockies.
Rustle and shimmer of icy creek waters stones turn underfoot, small and hard as toes cold nose dripping singing inside creek music, heart music, smell of sun on gravel.
I pledge allegiance
I pledge allegiance to the soil of Turtle Island, and to the beings who thereon dwell one ecosystem in diversity under the sun With joyful interpenetration for all. ~ Gary Snyder
I was just watching my beloved Black Books DVDs when I remembered I had typed out one of the extra scene thingies for the poor aussies who didn't get the shiny extras on their Series 3 DVDs. I posted it to the Black Books comm, like, a year ago, but not here. Which is a long way of saying.. er, here is the transcript of Bernard's Letter:
Oh, and hi. I see I haven't updated since April. Oops.
eta: I've just been told by Sky that season 2 of Atlantis start in the UK at 8pm on Wednesday 19th of October on Sky One. (This may be old news. I've been under a rock.)
Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it. (~Ellen DeGeneres)
